There is a write up today in the Lansing State Journal under fishing reports that said the catfishing is excellent right now. With channels being caught with nightcrawlers, smelt, live bluegills, and cut bait. Going to go if rain holds off Saturday evenig with the wife and kids.I'll let you guys know how I do.

Mel and I along with a friend and my son fished Ovid this morning from dawn to 11AM. We only got 3 channels, 2 -4# and 1-5#. The bite was very slow and light, only one fish actually sounded a clicker. They were also very lethargic, like dragging a log in. I have never fished them this early, and am not sure what to think. Beautiful day though, and it was fun to have my son along. This was his first trip fishing on a boat.

It's always a great day when you can take your son fishing!
