Lake ovid resovoir is a bit over 400 acres and is formed from the upper headwaters of the Maple River, and contained within Sleepy Hollow State Park.

It is a no-wake Lake and is susually congested with weeds, but the catfishing is the best in all the metro-lansing area.

Live shiners used at night are the tric, but sadly hotspots cant be given because of too much change in weed patterns- one week a hotspot will be fine, the next it will be swamped out.

Your best bet is in the spring by the dam. Beyond the island is another one. Both produce flatties AND channels.

Here's the scoop on kitties:

BIG CATS HERE- 5-7 POUNDERS NOT UNCOMMON. I saw a stringer full yessterday and the fellow holding the stringer claimed he does it 3x a week.

Behind the island is the old river bed. In 11-13 FOW with shrimp, I met a fellow who limited out midday on channels and says he does ALL THE TIME. He also claims there are blues in there but again... alot of folks mistake offcolor channels for blues- SVSU says there aint any in MI and so does ther DNR.

I will have to see for myself... whenever I get one , if I ever do

They have a hole out from the beach- it also produces midday cats ion the big range but theyre closer to 25 feet down. Again, this fellow had a stringer fulla nice ones and I took his word for it.

MUSKY

Yep- 40+ inchers exist there.... another fisherman said that they likely have over 400 in the 40-48 inch class in the lake. He said he saw one come out that was 52 inches and it was photoed and released. Thats about one per acres if my math is good. They also stock tons of fingerling musky in the lake as well. I landed one yesterdaqy at 4:20 PM on a firetiger shad rap that was around 22 inches.... I didnt have a tape but it was between 20 and 22 to my best estimate.

**** TAIL OR MILLFOIL
Yeah... it has some bad pockets of it on this resovoir. I'd say that yesterday I saw 50 acres of the lake swamped out by millfoil or coontail weed- depending on whatcha wanna call it.

They do two cuts per year to keep it at bay. I got 6 hangups in 9 FOW yesterday in 2 hours, My wife got about 10... so the weed hangup ratio is about equal to musky trolling on the american side of lake st clair.
