Met my client at 6:30 AM and we headed for Governors Island (Marker 5 area). Water temp when we got there was 68 degrees and 70 when we left. I made a full circle around the island drifting using my trolling motor at .5 MPH and the water depths were from 5 feet to 50 feet. Best bite was in less than 20 feet of water. Bait of choice was frozen vacuum sealed white perch. I cut then into small pieces, except for the heads. We had two smack downs on the heads, but no connections. Total catch was 12 blues, none larger than six pounds. Spent the last hour looking for white perch, but could not find any decent schools. Back at my dock at 11:15 AM.
