Haven't fished it in years and was just wondering does any one catfish it and how do you do. Do you eat the fish out of it?

Luke Clayton here. I used to fish with the late Bob Moore SOB Guide serive here during the winter months. Monticello is chock full of channel cats and, to my suprise, we used to catch them on in the creek channel, water 38-40 feet on the COLD water side of the lake. We'd bait a hole in the deep water and use a good smelly punch bait close to bottom. Most of the fish were about 2 pounds but occasionally we'd catch a 6-8 pounder. Guess the big trick here is to fish deep and cold water. Many folks complain that the catfish at Monticello have a 'grassy' taste from eating the vegetation. Never had a problem with that during the winter months, myself. Hope this helps! good fishing, lc
