The repairs from Hurricane Rita are still in progress at the Dam. All of the Rip Rap has been replaced and the major structure of the dam is okay. Now, they can receive the incoming water and raise the water levels again. They can't just shut off the water passing through the dam because of a requirement of a downstream flow. But, they can keep it at the minimum c.f.s. required to take advantage of the water being fed in through the Trinity River.

All of the rock trucks crossing the dam to drop off the replacement Rip Rap have taken their toll on the road across the dam and that is part of the final stages of the repair. But, look out! Water levels are slowly on the rise and should continue fairly well as long as the DFW area keeps getting thunderstorm after thunderstorm.

If you have any other questions about Lake Livingston, I probably won't know the answer, but have a really good source for the information.

Take it easy...and good luck fishing!

Talked to the people at the state park and saw an article in the Chronicle. The repairs are mostly finished, though won't be completed for another month to six weeks. The Authority is slowly letting the water in the lake rise. Its up about 10" from a week ago. But, it'll be a slow refill if the Dallas/Ft. Worth area don't get some rain. My son fished Conroe up at Stubblefield Monday and he says that its still pretty skinny water up there...no luck.

Yep, the Houston Chronicle in an article last week reported that the water in Livingston is being allowed to rise and is up about a foot. But, filling the lake takes a lot of water and depends to a large extent how much it rains up above the lake, especially in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Don't know if its still dry up there, but if they don't get the rains, don't expect Livingston to fill back to normal levels this year.
