Dont know if anyone's near here but the local lake is producing alot of channels in the 3lb-8lb range. 6 fish limits are caught within an hour or two. Theres a few bigger one's in it. In '88 it reopened so 22 years of growth anyhow. Ive seen a few 20lbers. Channel are coming off the spawn here. Chicken liver, dip baits, worms, cut bait, shad etc are all producing. If you like artificials or are into bass(ugh) white Mepps squirrels tails(no.3's?) are producing 2-6lb bass and 3-10lb channels. If you limit out there and still want to fish theres quite a bit of public water near here, municipal lakes, several big creeks, Illinois and sangamon river etc.

Where's the best place to fish along the bank? I have tried there a few times and never really had any luck. :cool2:

Over on the south east side by Asbury church. South side theres several points you can drive back into that are good. East of the boat dock is good too, theres a point there. Grass/milfoil is getting bad but livable. Cats are biting good still. Theres some lakes/ponds on the east side of Jville that cats are biting good too and access is easy. Lake Mauvastairre and the nichol park ponds. Shrimp, worms, chicken liver, dip baits other old standbys all produce. Buddy was throwin a Mepps spinner at the lake and caught a limit of channel(2lb-6lb) and 3 bass all 5lb(ish)

I have more in years past. We've taken some 60+lbers before on set lines. Hard to get big one's landed in the brush on rod and reel but its been done. We have a trailer and cabin, buddy just about lives up there from May-September. Live bait and fish right in the snags. Where you puttin in at? Just an after thought if your gonna be near Petersburg the white bass are hittin.
