Anyone in the Cincinnati area hear about this 95 lb blue cat caught at lake isabella. I live right up the road from the lake and have never seen or heard of any fish caught that big out of that lake. The largest fish I can remember is 69 lb carp and a 67 lb flathead. I may start fishing that lake again.

A 69 lb carp would crush the state record for carp by 19lbs

So I know a lot of people, including myself, didn't think that fish was 95lbs due to the picture. However, I met the guy that was fishing right next to him. He said it was definitely a 90lber. The scale at isabella is a little off. He said it took two guys to lift the netted fish. They caught it on a trout head in 20 ft of water. I don't know if this is vindication for anyone. Just telling you what the guy said.

Lake Isabella is a paylake so it would not even be considered for a state record.

The initial pictures of the fish did not make it look like a 95 pound fish...but some other pictures I saw made it look in the upper 80 low 90 range. It is not a certified scale so we will never know what it truly weighed.

I have talked with park rangers with the Hamilton County parks and they informed me that one of the hot times to catch the big blues that reside in their lakes is when they release the hatchery trout. And seems trout heads are the key bait. I was told be a park ranger last year that a guy caught a 46 pound blue out of Winton Woods. From what I have seen at Winton Woods, most of the angling is done for the carp in the lake. And maybe people taking their kids to fish for the mass amount of bluegills in the lake. I would imagine any lake that has large cats and has a hatchery stocking could be a beneficial place to fish just after a mass stocking. That much food in the water would trigger a feeding frenzy.

Yeah I know sharonwoods stocks 500lbs of trout every spring. I may go over there and rent a boat and see what I can get.
