Got on the water at about 8:30 today and fished until about 12:00. We trolled near Mocasin Point using down riggers to 20-30 ft.

I caught 3 Rainbows and hooked something that broke my line at the lure. Only got to fight it for 15 seconds or so.

My dad put another 2 in the boat. Not a day to complain about!! Weather was awesome on the water!

Thanks for the report Rossi. It's been a long time since I have been to Don Pedro. I like that lake. I remember a spot where we used to jump off the little cliff into the lake. I caught a nice 6lb rainbow out there one time. This was like back in 1999 though. Nice job on the fish and reps to ya for letting em see another day. Take it easy bro.

It was a nice day up here in the bay area - but we got the rain again:cloudy: - but I'm glad to hear that you were able to get out there in between the rainy weather and get in some fishing.

Maybe it was a channel cat, we used to catch one once in a while, slow rolling shad on the down riggers at Don Pedro....

    Quick question(s).
If I am fishing off the bank how far should I cast out?
Should I try as far as I can (without knocking off my bait) or should I just lob it 15-20 feet off shore.
I will be fishing in the Fleming Meadows campsite area.

Also any favorite baits to use. I used hot dog 2 weeks ago and caught a 2lb. and also lost one. The next night I didn't get one bite. I guess that is why they call it "fishing" and not "catching"!
