Does anyone have any experience with these two lakes?

I "stumbled" across them as I avoided 17 on my way to Warrenton the other day. Lake Curtis looked outstanding for shore fishing, and I read that Abel Reservoir has a good fishery of chain pickerel!

    Just wondering...

I have fished at Curtis once, and was chased away by storms before I could catch anything. One thing I did notice is it was pretty crowded, and this was on a Sunday. I would suggest walking a bit around to the dam, and avoid the easy walk up spots.

I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon and saw one boat, one shore fisherman (wasn't fishing at the time), and one lady playing catch with her dog. There was awesome surface action on the lake, looking as if there were some agressive feeding going on right near the fishing stands (wouldn't quite call the piers).

I was kicking myself for not having my gear, but I would have looked strange fishing in my business outfit!
