Micah there is a lot of good equip. on the market. I would suggest a 7000c3 Garcia Reel and an Ugly Stick Tiger Series rod in a med/Hvy. This is one persons opinion. I hope it helps.

if cost was not an issue i would like to have a 7000,9000, and for monster cats a 10000. and for rods i would like to have a 11 foot catmaxx rod or if im in a boat,a 7 foot 6 inch catmaxx

Cost not an issue... course it is... I'd get two abu 6000 or 6500 and two Berkley Big Game at WaL-Marts. They are just as good, if not better, than the big name rods your gonna spend quite a chunk on. Lets face it, the majority of catfishermen never catch anything over a 50lb blue...and the above outfit will handle those.

A Abu 6000 or Abu 6500 Combo will work.

Went to bass pro yesterday they had the new abu 9000i big game i compared it to the 7000ic3 and the big game i thought was smoother and heavier duty for 20.00 more then the 7000 but i think for lake duty a penn 310gti or a abu 6500 big game would be plenty.

I agree with MICKEY, I have a 7' heavy Ugly Stick Boat Rod with a Penn 320 GT2 and my favorite outfit the Ambassadeur 7000c3 attached to the 7' TIGER Ugly Stick MH. I've never fished big water but over the last few years I've accumulated enough setups to fish with the big boys, I keep telling my wife one day I'll catch that 100 lber and be glad for the equipment that I've paid for. So far I've caught a 8 lb. cat at the most.
