Anyone catch any cats in Lake Bowen????
I seem to remember some prior comments on Lake Bowen, but nothing recent. Seems like not too many fish there because it costs so much. I've thought about it as it's only a 25 minute drive for me, but when I checked it out a while ago it was full of pleasure boaters/PWC's. Have you tried it?
Bowen from what I gather has some ok channel cats. I've seen a few pictures of cats more than 25 lbs but I haven't fished because of the price of a permit. Blalock had some nice channels before they drained the lake and I'm sure most made it throught that. I thought about fishing Bowen from the boat ramp area at night but haven't done that yet. Sorry I don't know more.
I've never fished it but since I only live a few minutes away I might have to give it a try. If I do, I'll let you know.
My wife's family live in Chesnee. I live between Pacolet and Gaffney.
I caught an eight pound channel on a spinnerbait last summer. I have heard there are some good ones up there. If you can put up with the traffic. I'd go at night and fish up near I-26. Just before you go under the bridge is a point with a buoy marker on it. I have heard there have been some good ones caught out there.
I seen pictures of several decent channels from Bowen. As old as the lake is there should be some heavy weights in there.
I think so too. I thought I saw a big on two Saturdays ago up on the little area above Fosters bridge in the far back right finger. I was up there looking for blue gills spawning and there was something huge swimming in front of me but before I could get a good look it bolted like crazy. It was Dark colored. Could have been a big cat or a Carp. Who knows.
