I use a "blood knot" to attach mono to braid when I am adding braid to a mono backing on my reels.

If you are attaching braided main line to a mono leader, then as others have said, the swivel is the best route to go with.

Sam i tie an albright knot from mono backer to braid. I tie a swivel on to braid with palomar and palomar to flouro leader with snelled circle.

I have to agree with Dieter! If you are going line to line, the blood knot is by far your best bet. While the palomar is a great knot for speed and in a small game situation, I have seen the blood knot hold up to 300 to 500 lbs sharks with never a worry of failure.
