Corn kills trout? Never heard that one before, and I have been told to use corn for bait, and used it before and caught plenty of trout.

Corn will kill trout. something about they cant digest it or its somehow toxic to them or something. i am no Marine Biologist or anything, but i do know it will kill them. good thing i live in southern Arizona and no trout could surive down here anyway.

good one joey, you beat me to it :smile2: , they cant digest it, im sure if your on a huge lake or on a river they might not enforce the law down here, but here in cali with man made lakes and small rivers, you will get fined if you get caught even though they are a killer trout bait and im sure with other fish

btw thanks for the substitute

i am going to try this some day but if anyone does be for i do tell me how well it works.
    Things you will need:
    • 1 medium glass jar
    • strong fishing line
    • fish heads and skeletons (from last trip)
    • dry dog food
    • vanilla
    • garlic powder
    • milk
    • chicken livers
    • any old food in the fridge
Take all of the ingredients and mix them in the jar. Let it sit out in the sun for about a week. If it dries up just add some more milk. When you go fishing, cut four holes in the lid of the jar and string the line through two of them. Drop it in the water and tie the other end of the line off. I would recommend using a plastic lid so the sharp edges on the jar won't cut the line

    Mikey,

You might try Soybean Meal instead....You can find it at any feedstore around....I would think "soured" alfalfa meal would work also....If you don't mind the investment, buy some sinking catfish food....Dwight
