Robert S Kerr Lake today yielded up some good bait for me. I fished for 2 hours below L&D16 near Webbers Falls to string up 34 nice one-pound skipjack herring.

Last year I froze over 70 pounds of herring, only to run out of bait in December. I'm shooting for 100 pounds this year. That's only two more fishing trips like today!

Each herring was cut into bait-sized chunks and frozen in it's own personal quart-sized zip lock bag. That way I can grab one package (or two if I feel lucky) and not waste the bait by having too much thawed out and soured at the end of the trip.

Herring is just too difficult to catch at times during the year.

Albert - That is a nice mess of Skipjack you caught! Sounds like the Cat's are in trouble out your way this year!
