Anyone been on the KY River yet? Seeing if there is any information from Lock 13 to Lock 10 area (estil /Lee line to Booneboro)? Caught a few channels off the bank in Ravenna above lock 12. Just seeing if anybody else has been out.

Hey Chris, we fish the pool between 10 & 11. Folks are catching some crappie and white bass now and we caught some decent bluegills yesterday. I haven't targeted the cats yet, but will soon.

USGS has a good site that allows you to view real-time data on various bodies of water; go here:

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ky/nwis/rt and click on the green dots until you find what you're after.

You can also build your own 'groups' of stations. Here's the one that I've created with the breakdown of the twelve sites listed below it. Note that Locks 10 - 13 are included:

Oh, and I forgot to mention; releases for flood control from Carr Fork and Buckhorn Lakes on the North & Middle Forks KY River can cause the river to be unpredictable but also provide some prime fishing opportunities. By referencing the right stations you can determine when these releases are ocurring.

You ever have any luck up around where the Red River hits the Ky? We have caught Musky up there (in the Red) but never targeted catfish in that area. My grandfather told me the big cats are above lock 11, back thru Fox toward irvine. We have access to alot of private land in Irvine / Ravenna so I camp and fish the area from where Miller's Creek hits to Lock 12 with decent luck on bank and boat. Got a better boat so looking for more spots.

That's the pool i dock and fish on; and yes there's good, not outstanding or excellent, but good catfishing in these parts. But I've heard the same about the 11-12 pool.

I would say the pool above 11 may be better simply due to lack of pressure. I can't find a ramp in that area, except at the bridge in Irvine and running all the way down. I was told that it is a little over 9 mile run to the bend before lock 11. Get the motor lined out from storage I may try it. Right now I just prefer to run up river. If I break down I can atleast drift fish to the ramp on the trolling motor....lol. The few people I know that fish it, put in on private property sliding jon boats over the bank, and dragging them back up with their truck.

Folks are more bass, crappie, and musky oriented here than they are for cats; except for a handful of us limb liners and trotliners. there's really not that much pressure on the catfish. This is the 2nd longest pool (24.5 miles) on the KY River and I've been out on it many times without ever seeing another boat. Of course, I'm retired and I'm out more through the week than on weekends. I imagine that pool 11-12 (22 miles) is even more remote. It's very pleasent. i luv it. IMO, I wish there were more and bigger bluegills here!

Lance we will get together sometime and I'll show you a good camping area (irvine / ravenna), the guy that owns it is real nice...Just gotta keep it secret (it's my major family / kids fish camp)..I know from what I read your after the eaters and there are a bunch of them in the 5lb range. If you got a small jon or a canoe you can drop off a slope to the water and catch good fish in a small stretch. I bank fish the area for flatties and whatever else bites, and hang a few limb lines in that area.

KYredneck....I'm retired also, we'll have to hit the water on that stretch sometime. Fishing during the week is great, except my wife get's mad cause she's at work instead of fishing...lol

My boat is to big to slide down the bank . I bank fish more often than with the boat it's a hassle to do it by myself .
