Never fished the lake for cats but have had a few good days below the dam, there is so much rip rap lining the banks I would think a boat would be necessary as I can't seem to keep from getting hung up when fishing rip rap. I suggest if you decide to try below the dam and are not well versed on fishing there know your boat and how much water it will handle and take notice when they sound the siren. Every time I have been there were other boats fishing there I kind of watched them to decide how close to the dams to get. Good Luck

I know there is still good cats there, but just like the ohio, the cf's have really put a hurting on ky. lake from what i hear.

I fished Kentucky Lake two weeks ago close to Eggners Ferry Bridge and had no luck but there wasn’t any current either. Fished Barkley last weekend below 68 bridge and had a good trip. Caught good numbers of blues and channels but no real big ones. Here’s a video of that trip.
