Hey Kieth. Could you give us some particulars on the time and types of locations to look for. I would like to catch fish like that in my local lake. If a brother could use a little of your wisdom , I think I could put myself on fish like that here in my neck of the woods. Thanks In advance .

i think the best time to catch these cats is before they go on bed.usally in may depends on the weater.we will start trying to catch them again at the last part of april and try every weekend till the end of may then they start moving back in to the main lake

    welcome to the BOC keith
couple of questions and comments for ya
did you eat those big flatties ? or release them ? you know why they go on the bed its to nest , lay eggs for future fish populations .
i dont disagree with catching large fish but cpr works great and promotes larger fish growth .

Those are some powerful looking fish dude great work. I completely believe you catch those big fish in that shallow of water. Flatheads have not been around where I live for very long and not that big yet. They my never get that big here in Eastern Pa. and if they do I am sure it will be very rare. I have read studies that really big flatheads will go in water as shallow as 1' to feed if there big enough that predators are no longer a worry. Most of my biggest flatheads have been caught on 2' to 3' flats. A lot of times there tails will splash out of the water before my clicker goes off when there that shallow.
