keeping shad fresh

    we get alot of shad but tgey die qwic how long till bthey no longer work, i should of put this in the bluecat forum but they dont awser as qwick,

    once they start dieing i put the dead ones on ice and use them that way its worked for meand ive also used the dead ones out of the baittank for a few hours after they died until i got fresh ones or ice to put them on

    I put them on ice when I catch them, I think they lose some appeal if they get warm. I also change bait frequently and keep it as fresh as possible.

    It is very difficult to keep shad alive. I also put them on ice and just use them as cut bait

    if you dont have a shad tank and must put them on ice,

    take the time to get them dry as possible and put them in a zip lock back then put them in ice in a good cooler. and try not to get them wet in the bag.
