A couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide in your bait bucket, shad tank or livewell will help keep your live baitfish healthy and happy by adding oxygen to there water. The chemical formula for water is H2o and that of hydrogen peroxide is h2o2 which is way its called oxygen water in many countries.
WARNING do not add more then a drop or two,or this solution could have the opposite effect and could kill the fish.

Keeping your water clean and well aerated is a good idea. I've also heard of people adding a bit of ice to stop it heating up too much in the sun.

I use a product called "Rejuvenade", it is designed to keep fish alive during tournaments. It works well for larger bait fish too. What I like about it is, that it works for both fresh & saltwater bait & fish.

Come summer here in the desert it is difficult to keep bait alive. A battery operated aerator and some frozen 20oz soda bottles are mandatory.
