well back this summer i had posted in the illinois thread that i was being put on a heart moniter. well the ekg and monitor showed nothing was wrong. been having paliptations and a jumping feeling in chest on and off for the past year. accompined with some pain and shotness of breath.

well i just got some news yesterday that fits my symptoms to a tee. af, its atrial fibrillation or something. the veins in the heart that return blood send electric pulses causing the top left part of the heart to quiler instead of beat. my feeling exactly. symptoms are shortness of breath, palip, fatigue, jumping feeling in the chest.

im going in tomorrow to have them run some tests to check. sounds like what ive been experiencing. well now maybe i know whats wrong but hope its not i guess. says meds are usually the treatment. keep me in your thoughs please. im a bit nervous. maybe this is whats been behind my anxiety for the past seven years and is just now surfacuing. ill update ya all later. gotta run.

Know where you're coming from. Last Easter I was walking home from my in-laws, and got awful short of breath. Got home, lay down on the couch for awhile, and it didn't get any better. Finally after about an hour I asked the wife to check my pulse (she's an ER nurse) and she went ballistic. I don't remember how fast it was, but it shook her up. She wanted to call the ambulance, but I didn't feel that bad and said no way, she could drive me to the hospital. Well, we got there, they put me on a cart and started hooking me up to all these machines, giving me oxygen, IV, etc. Then I started getting scared. Anyway about 8 hours later, it settled down. They said I didn't have a heart attack, but atrial fibrillation. As you said, part of the heart was enlarged, and it tried to pump faster to get the same amount of blood through. Anyway, I spent a couple days in ICU, a couple more in the hospital, and they sent me home. Stayed on blood thinner for a couple months as a precaution, and am taking Rhymoll(sp) twice a day, probably for the rest of my life. Hasn't bothered me since. Good Luck, hope you get along as well as I did.
