Was going to hit Lake Houston this a.m. early, but it was raining buckets and toads. Finally got on the water about 10 a.m. and the rain started again. I put out my kayak by the W. Lake Houston bridge in Kingwood, so paddled under the bridge, threw out my Abu baitcaster and my Shimano Sedona spinning rig, the latter with a float rig, and caught two channel cats near some wood debris in about 7 ft of water by bridge supports. It finally stopped raining and paddled over to a couple of channels that connect the W. Fork with some backwaters of the lake. In the first channel, caught another channel cat. In the second, caught 6 more channel cats. Not bad for an otherwise miserable day with nothing on the tube but soaps, home makeover shows, and sports I don't like.

None of the cats were big, mostly 1.5 lbs or so. Two were fairly small, but the ones I kept will make the grease stink.
