DRC,
We fish the Kaskaskia below the Dam at Shelbyville. Sometimes, if we are lucky, we go on down the river towards Cowden. But this is only when the Corp lets enough water out that you can get a boat in.

This year being so dry, we have been on the river, but twice and one of them we done more walking and dragging the boat than we did fishing.

As for catching anything, all we have caught this summer is a couple of good size Channels, a couple of Walleyes and four Muskie and all of these were right below the Dam.

The last few times we have been out we haven't got a thing.

I used to fish the Kaskaskia alot. I mainly bank poled it and I caught alot of big channels and flatheads. I fished North of Lake Shelbyville between Allenville and Cook's Mill. I live on a lake now and I am too lazy to trailer my boat to fish the Kaskaskia but I know some big "hawgs" reside in it.

My dad lives over in Cowden and I grew up there. I was over for the 4th and we couldn't catch anything but gars. Can't believe how dry it is over there this year. He is coming over here to KC where I'm at now to fish the MO over labor day. I'll probably head over in late September and give the ol' Kaskaskia a try again. They hogged some nice flatheads in June and July, but no luck on R and R.

Hey if you can make it down to Cox's Bridge. There is a boat ramp there on the Kaskaskia and there is about 10 to15' of water there at the bridge. At least I was told that Friday when we had a deployment drill. Should be some big one's in there. Up river is 5 -6' deep and down river is the same.
