A buddy and I went out on the Kaskaskia river today at Vandalia. When we put in I noticed that the river was dropping and I didn't hold out much hope for much of a bite, but went ahead tried it anyway.
We managed a few channels but the highlight of my day was my first ever flathead! It was only about 4 lbs., but it was a flathead. I have tried for quite some time to get a flathead and not managed any success.
The river dropped another foot to foot and a half during the approximately five hours we were out there today. It's dropping fast.
