The Kansas River is flowing 15400 cfs on waterwatch at Desoto. What cfs would be safe and productive at Desoto? 16ft jon boat.

    Thanks

depends on your motor really. the length is fine for this strecth of river the faster the water the more motor you need to push it.heck i was out fishing in the flood of 93 with a boat no bigger than yours..lol

I've always had better luck when the river is up, but I'm usually catching channel cats. I've only recently started trying to catch bigger fish (blues and flats) as PHLIPS4BIGCATS has passed the fever along to me. Creeks are definately more productive for me when they're up.

The biggest flats I have caught were all takin during average water levels. When the Arkansas is flowin around 400- 600cfs I catch a lot of flattys around brush piles.

No problem. Stayed over night on sunday. One night trip. No other boats or people on the river. Caught one on R&R that went around 15. Caught two on limb lines that went around 20 and 40. I have a digital camera but I dont know how to put pictures on the site. I should work on that. Baited with large carp.

Trevor thats good news. I plan on heading back to the Kansas this sunday if I can catch enough bait. Im a little worried about navigating the Kaw this weekend. The water level shows to be in the 4000s. I was on it when it was in the 11000s. I better bring the wadders.

The folks in NE Kansas dont know how lucky they are.

GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE DROWNING BAIT THIS WEEKEND!

Yeah, you wouldnt even need waders on the Arkansas. Some waterproof socks would be all that is needed.:smile2:
    Good Luck Cody!
