What are the steps i have to go through to make the boat lagal to fish in? Ive got a trailer,the boat of course, and a 10 horse motor. Ive never had a boat before so i have no clue what i need to do to make it legal.

Go to DNR and get your boat registered with them and get the trailer registered at the DMV. Can get on IDNR's website at check out some info also. Need to make sure you have all your safety requirements.

Congrats Ryan on getting your first boat. hope it is a dependable package. You will need a fire extinguisher, whistle, paddle, life jacket for every person in your boat, a throwable seat cushion, anchor, and a resonable length of rope. If you will be out late you will need navigation lights. The boat must have a working horn. I hope I remembered everything.

WTG Ryan...As what Don said :good:, I just took my paperwork to my local boat shop that deals in boats and motors etc. and they took care of the whole shot except trlr. (thats a DMV job)..Just have to have your paperwork with you and for a nominal fee of coarse..

Insurance. Depending on length of boat etc theres extras safety equipment required. DNR website should lead you in the right direction. Congrats, good luck and be safe.

As i thkn every one said LIFE JACKETS!!!!!!!!! the last month there have ben atleast 4 missing boaters in my area and none of them where wearing LIFE JACKETS!!!!!
