When jugging in a lake do you put your free floating jugs in coves or out in open water. I have been putting mine in coves and catching a few smaller channels, but I want to catch some bigger cats.

    Thanks in advance,

I put mine in more open water. Where the upper river section of the lake just starts to open up and straighten out. Even then, if the wind gets up we spend all our time picking jugs up and moving them. I might have to try some the weighted jugs one night. I caught 39 cats on 60 jugs Fri night! Biggest was about 5lb but we caught a 17 lber last year.

I put my jugs in the main river. Current and boat traffic dictate where you
can put your jugs. Some places I only rod and reel fish because the
current is to swift for jugs. Sometime I wait until after midnight for the
local night bass tournaments to end and then put my jugs out. I stay
close to my jugs and rod and reel fish and check them every few hours.
Do not get discouraged keep them baited and try different locations and
    you will work it out.

I would keep trying different locations in the main lake and other coves. You will eventually find them.
