Sorry this report is a little late coming out, work has been a real bear.
First time I have ever fished at Jordan was last Saturday. I put 20 catfish on shore. 18 were channel cats and 2 were white cats (yes Mac, I counted the little anal fin bars). Most were 1 1/2 or so with the biggest being 3.5lbs. I fished from shore from about 6 in the morning to 9 or so at night. The bite was best really early and once the sun got off the water. The bite slowed down but never stopped during the day even with jetskis buzzin my spread every couple of minutes.
I fished off the point directly toward the main lake area and the small ramp at Ebenezzar. I fished cut bait fish of almost every type. Over the day I caught blue gills, white perch, and yellow perch on a small hooked rig I had out. I also cast netted a 2 gizzard shad and some really big minnows 4" or so. Those big minnows worked really good whole on the hook with the body of the fish shredded with my fillet knife but with the heads intact. I hooked em through the nose and casted out the whole bloody thing.
I used some rods with a standard carolina rig and some with a carolina rig with a small crappie float up the leader like most people use for drifting. I actually caught more on the float rig than the other rig. It was keeping my bait about 15 inches or so off the bottom. Might have just been luck of the draw, but ya there it is...
My casts were definately landing in <10 ft of water and I was trying to cast out as far as I possibly could because there is an old railroad bed out close to 100 yards from the bank off that point. When it was time to go just before dusk, in a span of about 5 minutes, all 6 catfish poles I had in the water either got bit or caught a fish. Catching three at the same time was pretty wild. So if you have a boat, a good bet would be deeper than 6-10ft in the day and up shallow in the night (not news to most of you).
I don't know how many catmen/women go to Jordan, but it seems a respectable place to catch eaters from the shore.
