    I have a a1966 20 hp johnson outboard.It is a short shaft.I need to make it a long shaft. does anyone out there know how to do this and where can I get the parts? Randy

    It can be done if ya can locate parts and have deep pockets.
    You will need :
    Stem extention, new watertube, New drive shaft , a few stainless studs , lock washers and Nyloc Nuts.

    I suspect you could move your power head to a longstem from a donor motor, probably would be a bunch more affordable.
    I believe that motor shared the stem with several model yrs and Horse power Ratings.
