.........My grandson Riley, who is four going on five ask me this question the other day.
.........We were in the front yard playing with trucks. Grandpa Jack, does Jesus still hurt with those nails in His hands? Now can you imagine that! A little boy worried about Jesus. I was very surprised and so proud of him all at the same time. It wasn’t hard to answer his question. I told him no, Jesus left them behind. Then we went on to talk about heaven and angels.
.........Well, Riley’s question inspired me to write this poem, I will share it with you.

    Jesus left the nails behind

Jesus left the nails behind when they took Him from the cross
Their purpose was to cause the pain He suffered for the lost.
He also wore a crown of thorns that added to that pain
More misery endured upon the cross for the sake of what we’d gain.

Jesus left the nails behind so we could be reminded every day
That the pain and suffering in this old world will never go away.
He left them here for a purpose so better Christians we might be
To help us learn what’s right from wrong, as guides for you and me.

Jesus left the nails behind He doesn’t need them any more
For He promised us eternal life and all that heaven has in store.
So when you get hurt or angry in this old world of sin and vice
Remember the nails Jesus left behind and how He paid the price.

And a little child spoke the words that brought Jesus closer to me.

Jack that was really a great post,Thats one of the reasons I love this Site so well.No one seems to be afarid to talk about God or Jesus. And no one puts them down for doing it. Aren't grandkids great, you never know what they might ask. That was a really neat question and I love the way you answered it. GOD BLESS!!
