kdrennon7 and myself launched out of Dutch Gap yesterday for some fishing. Bait was fairly easy and the weather was beautiful. We fished from 10 am until the thunderstorm ran us off round 5 pm.
We managed to pull in a 54 lber and a 46 lber along with several 18 and below. All fish came from 5 to 14 foot of water. Water temps around 90 degrees.
We used cut eel and cut shad. The 54 came off of shad and the 46 was on cut eel.
I caught one 5 lber on a huge piece of eel that was bigger than his mouth.

Nice catch! Boy that 46 lber was a long fish. It's amazing how a little fish can stuff a big meal in it mouth when it wants it.

Congrats and thanks for the report!

Kinda looks like a lamprey latched onto it. We caught one down there like that while fishing with a guide and he said thats what the mark came from.

    Nice fish Michael!

Thats the scars from the spawn. All the fish I've caught lately have been beat up pretty bad and skinny compared to before the spawn started.

Dust Cat that was back around May 20th. It was a Blue Cat, weighed 102.4 I believe, James River, Dutch Gap, on cut bait of some sort
