We caught 4. Two bigger were 21.8 and 39.5.
Great Day. 67 degrees and no wind. Here's pictures.
Nice fish man. I have been wanting to drive out there for a while now.
good report and nice pics. thanks!
Those are some nice cats.
Nice fish Hookman! Got any more details for us? What bait, how deep, current speed, how far apart were the fish caught (time wise), etc. I just like to see what's working for other on their rivers and compare notes. Thanks.
Fish were all caught in 30+ feet. Water Temp was 49. Air Temp was 67.
The James is Tidal so there is a flow all day in opposite directions except for the 1/2 hour between. Boat was anchored. 40 lb test line. 7 foot rods. Level wind reels rated at 40 lb. 80 lb leader. #8 Gamagatsu Octopus circle hooks. Fresh Shad, chunked. Slip Sinker rig but had the reels locked up. Don't touch them until they bend over double. Wait 20 to 30 minutes then reel up and move. We had 6 rods out off the back end of a pontoon boat. Great fishing platform for the James River. Hope this helps.
