Steve and i got out to the river yesterday around 5 pm to fish for some flatties. Water temp was in the lower 70s. After about a hr of no bites Steve's Shimano bait runner took off and he landed a nice 19 lb 10 oz flattie. And it was absolutely beat to death, it had a dollar piece hole from rubbing on the top of its head and mouth was bloody. I managed to land a 6 lb flattie that was the same way, well its Spawn time again guys:neutral:

I am thinking you are right about the spawn. At least now we have an excuse to use the rest of the summer when we get skunked LOL. Never underestimate the power of a catman using the spawn as an excuse clear in to September.

My river has been blown out for the last couple weeks, and more rain to come...do you think they postpone spawning during thease conditions?...I always look forward to post spawn, late august thru october has alyways been my best time for big fish.

I haven't had much luck on the Musk. w/flatties either. I like the post spawn myself also. And to comment on Flat. question I would say the fish would still be spawning even w/ the high water. My 2 cents. Can't wait for the river to settle down!
