I have seen many web sites that have these Guest Books, I think it would be a good thing for the BOC!!!

The guest book idea would be a good one.

I will admit that the BOC's structure was somewhat intimidating when I first visited; however, the great library of articles and how-tos drew me in quickly.

Interestingly, the awards, reps, and stars had me confused for a while--I had never seen anything like it on other forums. Nor had I encountered the various restrictions as a new member.

The initial help FAQs are getting organized, and are becoming increasingly helpful. This is an outstanding site. :smile2:

I think the guest book idea would be great. It is like test driving a car. Alot of people won't commit to anything without trying it first. It isn't like they wouldn't join. This is the best fishing site on the net!!! BOC shout out!!

Yeah I thought it might work to let the guests get their feet a little wet and find out what they think of the BOC without jumping all in at first maybe we could figure out what keeps some from joining

I know Paul and the Mods are doing all they can and I don't even have the slightest idea about how to do it so maybe I spoke out of turn but just a thought

Although a good idea and well intentioned. I know of several sites and many individual people who had guestbooks. But, they got trashed with a lot of stuff, from links to porn sites etc etc. And, as a result, they shut down their guestbooks because it took so much time to monitor and dump all the trash that was being put there.

Now, with that said, consider how many hits the BOC gets each day. And, then consider how many people just may want to try and trash it up, for whatever reason. The guestbook could prove to be a lot more hassle than what it might be worth.

But, if Paul and the Mods are up to the task and know how to deal with things of this nature without it eating up to much of their time. It could be a good thing. I know that I enjoy reading guestbook entries. But, it they start getting trashed and I have to wade through a bunch of junk before I can read a decent entry, I won't waste my time.

Just something for everyone to consider, from what little I know about Cyberspace and guestbooks.

I agree, I've seen countless "guest books" that became fodder for all the spammers.... Signing and posting here is not that much trouble imho, about as much as signing a guest book..
