I caught this fish this morning in the Wabash river in Wabash ,Indiana. All the channels I catch are a tanish, pale brown color and Blues are rare to unheard of this far North. Is this a male Channel cat (turned dark for spawn) or a Blue cat ? -Thanks

Male channel cat. Best way to tell is the rounded pectoral fin and tail. On blues this size, the tail tips will come to a point, and the pectoral fin will be straight.

Thanks guys, I was thinking Channel, but never seen a Blue in real life, so I wasn't 100%. Do these males stay this color year round ? I've caught some of simulair size and they were all tan to brown in color. -Thanks

def a swollen male channel, spawn involved... they will vary color depending on season, water temps, environment ect
