    Anyone know her music?

I became a new fan recently with the release of her new CD, after hearing her give an interview on the radio on a program called "Fresh Air".

She's a true poet and her voice is golden, her message clean and clear, and her style... well, I dont remember ever hearing someone so positive and warming in the mainstream.:haha:

Quick lyrics for you... and this is just one of her songs.

    Have a great day everyone!!! :big_smile_2:
    There's Hope

    There's Hope
    There's Hope
Back when I had a little
    I thought that I needed a lot
    A little was overrated
But a lot was a little too complicated

    See zero didnt satisfy me
a million didnt make me happy
That's when I learned the lesson
That it's all about your perceptions

Hey are you a pappa or a super star?
So you act, so you feel... so you are.
It aint about the size of your car
It's about the size of the faith in your heart

    There's hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You'd better thank God for that

Off in the back country of Brazil
I met a young brother that made me feel that
    That I could accomplish anything
See- just like me he wanted to sing

He had no windows and no doors
He lived a simple life and was extremely poor
On top of all that he had no eye sight
But that didnt keep him from seeing the light

He said, "What's it like in the USA?"
And all I did was complain
He said, "Living here is paradise."
He taught me Paradise is in your mind. You know that

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's Hope
Every time I turn on the TV
    There's Hope
    Sombody's Acting crazy
    There's Hope
Let it, it will drive you crazy
    There's Hope
Im taking back my power today

    There's Hope
Gas Prices they just keep on rising
    There's Hope
The Government they keep on lying
    There's Hope
    We gotta keep on surviving
Keep living the truth and do the best we can do

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's Hope
    Stand up for your rights
    Keep shining your light
then show the world your smile

    Stand up for your rights
    Keep shining your light
then show the world your smile

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's Hope
It doesnt cost a thing to smile
You dont have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

    There's hope.

    Great song lyrics; outstanding message.

We all need a reminder now and then that we live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth, at the greatest time in history to live here. It is no time to complain.

Maybe this thread needs to be copied over to the HI area and placed there with a sticky.:tounge_out:

There are 2 better songs on the new album that would fit better:

    Intro: loving
    and
    Wings of Forgiveness

    and Kenya,
Welcome to the BOC. This is a fantastic site. You will find this to be a very warm and welcoming place... that surprisingly acts more like a family than most any other outdoors site you go to on the net.

I don't know how I missed this thread, but yes I am into India Arie. She really brings a postive vibe to the music scene. As you know Sal, I went to Chene Park to see her performance. Definitely was worth the price of admission...:smile2:

Also, welcome to the BOC Kenya...

    I am a HUGE fan of India.Arie.

Since her first album, she has been one of, if not my favorite artist. I'm a big proponent of lyrical content which seems to be missing from many of todays artists regardless of musical genre. I think my favorite song of hers is from her first album. The song is called, "Beautiful". The song was very spiritual to me. Now I'm as tough a guy as they come, but I'm not ashamed to admit the first time I heard this song, you would have thought I was chopping onions cuz I cried...ok enough of the 'sensitive' stuff. Here are the lyrics:

    The time is right
    I'm gonna pack my bags
And take that journey down the road
Cause over the mountain I see the bright sun shinning
And I want to live inside the glow
    Yeah

I wanna go to place where I am nothing and everything
That exists between here and nowhere
I wanna got to a place time as no consequence oh yeah
The sky opens to my prayers

I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,

Please understand that it not that I don't care
But right know these wall are closing in on me
I love you more than I love life itself

But I need to find a place were I can breathe
    I can breathe
I wanna go to place were I can hold the intangible
And let go of the pain with all my might

I wanna go to a place where I am suspended in ecstasy
Some where between dark and light
    Where wrong becomes right

I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
I wanna go to beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,

Thank you for posting those lyrics, Jeff. Just reading them made chills run up and down my spine, and I've never even heard the song. You can bet that it won't be long before I do! The words themselves are "Beautiful". The first time I saw India she was on an early morning news program singing with John Mellencamp. I thought she was talented then, and she has proven that over the last few years! I'm heading over to my music club's website and put in and order for an India Arie CD right now.

Hi Kenya! Welcome to the Brotherhood of Catfishermen family. We're glad to have you! :smile2:
