    Dennis, May you rest in peace my friend.

    ~ I'M FREE ~

    Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free

    I'm following the path God laid for me.

    I took His hand when I heard him call;

    I turned my back and left it all.

    I could not stay another day,

    To laugh, to love, to work or play.

    Tasks left undone must stay that way;

    I found that place at the close of day.

    If my parting has left a void,

    Then fill it with remembered joy.

    A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;

    Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

    Be not burdened with times of sorrow

    I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

    My life's been full, I savored much;

    Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

    Perhaps my time seems all to brief;

    Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

    Lift up your heart and share with me,

    God wanted me now, He set me free.

    It was a very small thing, a roll of duct tape at the National. Tinboat had something on his motor chair give way and I was able to help with a old roll of tape. He mended the problem and again was on his way.
    Having the chance to help a brother out, even with such a small gesture gives me solace in his passing. Cloth on the top and glue on the bottom the tape held his controls together. The BOC is like that, Our cloth is our site and Our glue is the brotherhood and love we extend to one another in our everyday on line talks and our fortunate personal meetings. Cherish every moment when you meet a fellow member, we never know when we will see them again.

    For those who may not know, Tinboat made BOTH "first" National Gatherings; the one at Dardanelle, Arkansas and the one in Kentucky. Paul may not remember it, but he's the one that scheduled the one at Dardanelle and designated it as the First National Gathering.

    Thanks Barb that was beautiful ...Dennis Im sure is grateful for u putting this poem on ... he seems the type who would not want us to grieve for long but rejoice in his being there with his Father.

    I tried to post this two days ago and am going to try again. I wanted to share my time with Denny with everyone.

    Denny and I met the first year I joined the BOC. We chatted and and enjoyed just plain having fun. He enjoyed life, meeting and making new friends. I remember the fun we had when Denny, Eric, Dale and I started chatting about turkey fishing. Sometimes I had to stop or I would have fallen out of the desk chair laughing. Denny came up with a new type fishing line, it would cut thru the tree brannches so he wouldn't get tangled as he fought the turkey on his fishing rod.

    I got to meet Denny at the gathering in Morralton Aekansas. I met a lot of good people that trip. It was my first gathering. Denny drove by our site, stopped introduced himself and decided to camp with us. Denny and I seemed to hit it off and remained close friends. We stayed in contact with each other since.

    Denny, Dale and I have stayed good friend since meeting. We shared campsites at the Oklahoma gathering every year or camped next to one another. We enjoyed the time we spent together. We called ourselves the bad boys or bad bunch. Mike Holliday, another true and trusted friend use to say he had to put us all together close to him so he could keep his eye on us. We shared a lot of good times together, at gatherings and on the computer.

    I thought I had lost a friend when I heard that Denny passed away but you know,I was wrong. I had the honor of knowing him, the privilege of being his friend and the gift of his memory and the times we shared together. The gatherings will not be the same without him.

    Two years ago Denny made me a cane to help me keep my balance when walking on uneven ground. It is a beautiful piece of work.

    I will miss Denny and if I shed a tear it will be for his family and friends and the loss of a friend. God had blessed me by letting me know Denny and allowing me to be his friend.

    I will not say good-bye my friend
    you will always dwell within my heart
    And that I will always thank you for
    letting me be a part

    The Lord called for you
    He has taken you in His hand
    He will guide and protect you
    on your way to a new and better land

    There you will find happiness
    and peace will set you free
    For there is no pain or sorrow
    in heaven for us to to see

    I will always love and miss you
    you were a true and trusted friend
    For this privilege and this honor
    your memory will never end

    So when I miss our chats each day
    I'll remember times shared in the past
    For these are gifts of friendship given
    that will forever last

    I will not say good-bye my friend
    you will always dwell with in my heart.

    Denny, a good friend, I will miss you.
