    I'm still that little kid

He beckoned my soul just like Moby Dick,
So I tied me a line to a hook and a stick.

I waited for hours in the water near shore,
To catch this big fish that I saw once before.

Yes I was young and didn't know much back then,
Like tying the best knot or counting the rays of a fin.

Yet still I got hooked and had but one fleeting wish,
As I yearned for the time I would catch that big fish.

Now I'm older and wiser with all kinds of gear,
And I try all the new stuff year after year.

I watch TV shows read books and join clubs,
My baits include liver live Bluegill and chubs.

I now fish from boats or just sit on the bank,
For my hours of pleasure I cast and I crank,

So when someone ask why the truth can't be hid,
The answer is clear I'm still that little kid!
