I've had enough of Jr.! My wife and I started pulling for him back in 2000 during his rookie season. We went to DEI on our honeymoon along with the Richmond nightrace. We bought the $150 jackets, we fly the #8 flags at our home, we got about fifty #8 diecast cars in our family room, in fact our whole family room is #8 and #3 stuff, we have #8 stickers, license plates, t-shirts, sweat shirts, etc. So when he decided to jump ship and go to Hendrick it wasn't like any other driver going elsewhere, he took down a huge empire of Bud fans, #8 Fans, Dale Sr. fans. The sea of red at any race was more than just liking Jr. It was for all he represented. The hard working middle class folk who liked to tip a Bud, watch a race, cheer for a guy who we thought was like us. Now hes off to Hendrick and his new teammates Gordon & Johnson. I have never been a fan of either of those two so I had a choice to make, compromise and except Gordon & Johnson or say screw you Jr.! I opted for the second choice and removed the #8 license plate from my vehicle tonight. My wife disagrees with me and we have a bit of a rift going over this thing but I'm sticking with my feelings! I'm not yet sure who I'm going to select as my new favorite but Jr. is no longer it!

I look at it like this. Budweiser is one of the worst beers known to mankind.
    Rice beer. It sucks.:smile2:

If Buttwiper sponsored me and told me all I could drink was Buttwiper I'd jump ship and find another sponsor too.

So, silly me, what is it about Gordon and Johnson do you not like? You say Jr represented you? How so? come on, if you are going to make a decision to drop your favorite driver, and blame it on his new teammates, there should be a list of reasons.

I fully support Jr moving to Hendrick. But then again, I've always liked Gordon.

If you should hate anyone, you should hate his step mom not jr. He tried to work things out prior to having to resort to jumping ship. He wanted to take his # with but its not for sale and his new boss wont let him bring in bud. Not the mans fault, he just wants to race and live up to the hype that everyone expects of him due to his lineage. Hes just a victim of circumstance.

Switching teams is just apart of Nascar, Dale Sr. switched teams and sponsors the same as Dale Jr. and I pulled for Dale Sr. then and I will pull for Dale Jr. now. But heck here in BRISTOL, it always has been and always will be Earnhardt country!!!

Hmmm.......I can't say I blame Jr. for leaving. Sometimes you just gotta "strike out" on your own . Of course, signin' with Hendrick isn't exactly doin' that, but this is NASCAR!

And as far as Gordon and Johnson go TDawg, Gordon can kiss my you know what. Don't like him, never will. He might be able to drive a car, but I doubt he can do much else :smile2:. Talk to Smokey Joe.

Now as for Jimmie, he's kinda cute . But don't you people go askin' GoFish_Tony about why I pick my drivers!

I'm still stickin' with the hometown man, DJ. (He's kinda my neighbor, whatcha gonna do?)..... OR that RETIRED fella, think his name is Mark Martin?

Well seeing that i have met MANY nascar drivers, i will have to say that i will always be a Jr. fan but i dont really like who he signed with, a team full of cheaters. Now i know for a fact that no matter what you race, how you race, or who you race, you are gonna cheat. But what i cant stand is somebody who will cheat, get caught once, then complain about it more and more. THEN get caught AGAIN!!! I didnt like hearing that he signed with them but oh well, life goes on!!!
But i also gotta cheer on a good race car driver, but a terrible people person Tony Stewart, i must admit that guy can race any car imaginable and win, but he cannot be nice to anybody if his life depends on it.
Like Tanya, I too have to cheer on a neighbor, Carl Edwards, that guy can drive a car.

Well it appears I've ruffled some feathers here. I guess I should elaborate on a few things. 1) I didn't say I hated anyone including Jr., Gordon or Johnson. Its just racing. If it causes feelings of hate then I don't need it. I said I wasn't a fan of Johnson or Gordon. 2) I just strongly feel Jr., the #8 and Bud were a package and don't like the fact he is now a Hendrick driver with a new number and sponsor. Crap, I gotta go, I'm about to be late for work! I'll get back to this later.

Jr. had to leave if he ever wanted to some races. They can't even keep a motor going in his #8. I was thinking his number was the place he had picked out to finish. lol lol

He is an over hyped driver, that is not as good as some of the other new drivers. And he is deffinatly not as good as Gordon.
Ahhh Dupont ' A better world threw chemicals' lol lol.

I think JR did the best thing if he wants to win right now! I dont think he will stay with the team too long though.

Equipment is going to bring driver talent out.
You can be the best driver in the sport in Ginn Racing junk and look like you just plain suck as a driver.
or you can be in the best equipment in the business and shine.
I think the talent that all drivers do not possess is the ability to tell a crew chief what a car needs. Some of those drivers couldnt point to a distributor under the hood. They are hired wheel men.

I'll say it again. Every one of those guys have ALOT of talent and can wheel a car. The Richard Petty driving experience taught me that.
You dont talk crap about who can drive or cant drive, you talk crap about the cars an owner puts on the track in competition and the crew chief.

Scott, I think I can see where you're coming from. Yes, JR's always been connected with the #8 & Budweiser. It's really going to be strange to see him in something else. I really wish DEI had let him take the #8; heck, it means more to him (since it was his granddad's number) than it could ever mean to any of them. And a true, loyal fan, like yourself, probably has a big monetary investment in souvenirs, clothing, car decals, etc. But wouldn't it be really cool to see him "stick it in their face" & win a championship?? :cool2:

OK, I'm back to touch on this subject and yes I made it to work on time this morning! :smile2: Yes I feel somewhat betrayed being stuck with a ton of #8 stuff that is now useless! Yes I know drivers change owners, numbers, sponsors often. Jr. was kind of an exception to that, driving for his dads company. I bet Dale Sr. would be really ticked at the way things have played out at the company he built! Yes there is plenty of blame to pass around. How in Gods name Teresa could not see the dollar amount that Jr., Budweiser and the #8 was worth is amazing to me. Now on the other side of the coin Jr. has become who he is because of his father! There ain't no ifs ands or buts about it! He was groomed for the racing lifestyle at a very young age and became good at it. Without his dad this wasn't going to happen, so to jump ship cause of Teresa, leave the #8 behind, to screw over Budweiser ( Who Dale Sr. landed as his sponsor when Jr. was an unknown factor) The Earnhardt name wasn't a guarantee to big bucks just look at Kerry Earnhardt! Now to join the team at Hendrick which was already the sports powerhouse just leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I am going to pull for someone else now! These are just my feelings and not intended to tick anyone off or offend. I wish nothing bad against Jr. and he may do well at Hendrick but someone else besides me will be buying the $150 Jr./Mountain Dew coat or whoever his new sponsor is!

i think teresa shoulda just let junior run the co. and sit back like a good step mom & support the co. & just collect her paycheck w/no stress or worries afterall he does know the business i think he coluda built that team up better than just leaving it but it all boils down to the power struggle & poliics just my two cents may the best team and equipment win

I understand your point. I'm gonna remain loyal to Jr no matter his #,team or sponsor. I can't stand teresa Earnhardt and can't wait for TEI to go under. She has single handedly ruined that company. I don't blame Jr for leaving. I also think she is giving Jr second rate equipment such as engines and such and giving Truex the good stuff. I bet Sr is rolling in his grave at what that stupid witch has done to the company!!!
