...and I'd like to know if anybody has any cat info for John Kerr (Wilkesboro Reservoir). Also, I've got two big ol' Daiwa open faces (4000s) that I'm planning on using for cats. Will they work okay? What's the best inexpensive rod holders for my Carolina Skiff Lil John? Any help will be appreciated.

Neil, I have never fished JK Reservoir, but I believe they have some channel cats. Your Daiwa 4000s will work. Sorry I can't offer any advice on rod holders for your Lil John.

I've caught some channel cats there several years ago....well maybe more than that it was in the early 90's. The white Atwood rod holders from Wal-Mart have served me well. So long as your drag is set well they won't go anywhere if mounted properly as well.

Also, welcome to the BOC, it's the best catfish site on the net!!!

Welcome!! As for your question about rod holders. I have a Skiff. I use the Driftmaster holders that attach to the railings (1"). They sell them at Boaters World or Bass Pro. If you have a model without rails they make mounting brackets that are very easy to put on. These holders are the best priced on the market.
