Going there as a camping/fishing trip this week. Anybody got any tips on this place? I've never been before.

I lived in Marseilles for about twelve years and fished the Illini park a bunch. The best way to fish there is with a boat. They have a new oaunch (a couple of years old) that is great. If you are bank fishing, try around the launch. It is easyer to get to the water. We moved from Marseilles to Peru last year. So I don't know what has changed this year at the park. Illini has a thing on they call "back to nature" and some of the places (picnic areas) they had blocked off and didn't cut the grass. The camp ground is good.
Lots of luck to you and catch a bigun'.

Just got back from the trip and it was a delightful time. Didn't catch much fish during the day, there was a lot of boat traffic going on. After dark the bite still didn't come about, but we did catch a few decent cats which we released. The bite was slow as best.

The camping was great, will definitely be doing it again very soon.
