Ignition timing

    i have a 1987 40 hp yamaha 2 stroke does anyone know the timing setting?

    Timing is variable as you advance the throttle, but I'll check to see what it should be at idle and where to adjust it, if it's adjustable.

    i know how and where to adjust it. i did it a couple years back. i misplaced my manual and dont remember the setting i just remember 20 something degrees at full throttle and i beleive it was -5 degrees at idle

    Everytime I thought about looking it up, I got side tracked into doing some work. Damned job sure gets in the way sometimes.

    You got a manual that tells you anything on why a 87' 200 Johnson is firing 40 deg's advanced at idle. I'm about ready to burn it.

    its ok. i sure understand getting side tracked happens to me all the time. it seems to get worse with age. anyways its all better now shes running like a top
