Either a big shad head, or a big bluegill head. Fresh cut of course.

something REALLY big (over 10"), legal to use as bait, and moves around a lot on bottom.

Welcome to the most informative online catfish resource period.Personaly I would pin a 4-5" bluegill or redear sunfish,I like small carp too.Id say it depends alot on your local forage base though.Different lakes and rivers "fish" differently. What works for me in california might not be the best option for where your fishing, the best way to learn a water sysytem is through personal trial and error,in my opionion.Best of luck.

I'd say an 8" bullhead or a 5" green sunfish. Baby carp are also a good bet!

    #1,.... Creek Chub
    #2,... 8-10 inch sucker
    #3.,,,, large striped Creek Shiner
    #4,,,,,,Bluegill

The very best Shovlehead bait I ever used,I don't even know the proper name of. Growing up in Eastern Ky and southern WVa everyone called them Hog Suckers or Hog Mollies, Never seen them anywhere else. They were strictly Top Shelf for bait.
