Went out Tuesday, October 6th, first hunt of the year on some new property I got permission to hunt, 300 acres of corn divided by a 20 yard treeline. I set up in the treeline and this dude came in at 7:11, shooting time ended at 7:20. Got him to stop by making a grunt sound with my mouth, but wasn't at full draw yet. He stuck his nose up and was about to take off after winding me but I was able to get a shot off, 25 yard shot. Got down, no blood, no arrow, nothing! Backed out and took my ole trusty dog Angel with me Wednesday morning, she tracked right to him! Ended up being a nice 12, hit him a little far back but still had a lung, liver, and stomach so he was down that night. Was shooting a Mathews DXT with Rage 2 blade heads, about a 3 inch hole but no exit. Good luck out there fellow archery hunters! Chris

What does Angel do when you walk up to a deer? Does she lick it if it's a good one? Or does she not pay any attention to it if it's a smaller one? What does she do if it's a doe? Just curious. :smile2::wink:

That is one fine trophy. Is the area you hunt in the antler restricted zone? Mine is and I have noticed some fine bucks that size and larger that I have never seen before. I haven't been out yet but man I'm itching bad. Congratulations on that bruiser.
