What in the he-- has happened to people??? A little act of vandalism almost caused someone to lose their life tonight. My son and I put in at Rogers point this afternoon. After a really enjoyable time of fishing and fellowship, we decided to leave at 10:00 p.m. Got the boat out of the water and started home and lo and behold, the boat trailer came off the ball. Thank goodness for safety chains and light traffic. While inspecting trailer hitch and trailer, we noticed the trailer hitch latch had been pulled up. Why in the he-- would someone do something like that? Did they really think it would be funny? Well let me warn you cowards now...I'm a big feller and my son is a big feller and I don't think the Catoosa police or the county sheriff could get out there in time to rescue your sorry as-es. So people, double check your equipment , stay safe, and lets keep an eye out for one another............Gary

Wow, I fish from Rogers Point at least once a month. I have not had a problem at that spot, however, there are so many rough looking folks parked at the picnic areas. I found a sack full of syringes in the parking lot.
Another quick sad vandalism story, I live in Jenks, I was loaded up and ready to go fishing with my buddies when at 1:00 AM I heard a crash. I thought someone ran into the back of my pontoon boat.
Well it was no accident; they spray painted a five pointed star with a circle around it on my boat, (meaning anarchy). It's all the rage with teenagers, (probably influenced by a video game or some kind of brain poison).
Then they ran into my 2010 F-150 4X4 in their haste to get away. I was beyond sick. I am still very angry, hurt, upset and hair triggered. I had the truck fixed $2,250 my uninsured covered it, but, it will never be "new" again. I had to drive my wife’s car to OKC that night to borrow my dad’s truck to pull my boat. The entire neighborhood is up and arms as many have suffered vandalism. We dive by in a procession every night. The vandalism continues to this day.
Last night, I found a bunch of teenage boys around 10 of them all dressed in some type of Anarchy attire. I tried to talk to them civil, one of them said the F-bomb and I went off on them. My wife told me to get into the truck and she talked to them for about 30 minutes. She is a psychologists, she said I talked to them the way there parents do that’s why they rejected me. They were civil to her. I took down their tag numbers and inspected all of their vehicles. I guess the cops don't intervene at all anymore.

Hate to hear about people messin with others stuff. Since most of my fishin trips are overnighters, I put in at Bluff landing only just for that reason. Some times the kids and I will get out of the boat at Rogers or 33 landing to hike and stretch our legs. I've seen alot of broken glass in both locations. Wouldn't think of leaving my rig there overnight. I've gotten to know the camp host at Bluff Landing over the years and they keep watch over my van and trailer. They lock the gates at night and call the sheriff on under age drinkin partys. Great people to know. They always have the latest info on where to find shad and where the fish are hittin.

that goes to show ya parents use condoms or teach your children some manners and respect and take them fishin for the love of god !!! if they understand it maybe they will stop the foolishness .

also tauraus judge empty the 410 buckshot out and fill with salt rocks and keep it close i am willing to bet that if you had to pepper there cans with that they WILL LEAVE YOUR GEAR ALONE and it will not kill them just hurt like he**.
generation x is screwed since parents now get arrested for puttin a good whooping on a hiney of a child in need of just that..

so parents simply give up on them and wala you have vandialiseing scum bags <--- best case.

also maybe if you can or have the want or patience to deal with those kids , perhaps you could invite one out with you and with any luck change 1 or 2 minds outa the dozen ?

That's why I'm truly greatful I was taught the values of hunting and fishing at a young age. It kept me out of trouble and it taught me respect. I am also greatful for every butt whopping I recieved when i did wrong which is exactly what kids need today. I'm glad no one was hurt but it would be a good idea to put a lock on your hitch just in case it happens again.

Be safe and good fishing to all of you.

As Gary said, safety chains! I used to hook up trailers for a major equipment rental company, and they didn't leave the lot without properly connected chains. Chains can and have saved equipment and lives. Would've been all too easy for Gary's boat to take off into oncoming traffic and potentially kill someone. Why? Because some A-hole thought it would be "funny". So follow his advice and be safe.

I'm also glad no one got hurt and hope there wasn't too much damage to your rig.

And now the ranting....

Add to the vandalism & garbage night after night after night of car stereos that will vibrate a concrete garage foundation from 1/2 mile away, and it won't take long for the fish to completely vacate a good fishing spot. That external noise has to interfere with a fish's ability to find it's prey. If you can't hunt, you can't eat. If you can't eat, you gotta move someplace where you can find food. What have you got? A dead spot where there used to be plentiful fish.

It's all so frustrating that it makes you want to SCREAM!

It's really sad the direction our society is headed. Glad I won't be here to see it in 75 or 100 years.

That's really tough, I'm glad I haven't had to worry about anything like that (yet) in western OK. I'm probably spoiled...

Bring that thing up here Sam, we can put so many pop rivets in it they will never get it off.... Permanant tag, so lets make it permanant !!!! I wrap mine on the fender, if a cop cant see it they are blind. BSTRDS, this generation has no respect what so ever, you do occasionally find a decent kid. Every time Im drivin somewhere and one of those punks pull up rattlin my windows with thier "bass" I just lay on the horn and hold it there, I usually get the finger, but hey, I can throw it back at em LOL.
Yep, get a lock, Im the same I lock it before I leave the house.

I was driving thorugh 66 last night and happened to notice Sheriffs lights down by the ramp. I didnt think much of it because ive heard of some bad stuff that goes on down there. I know if i caught someone messin with my boat they would be hurtin for awhile. Im sorry to hear that it happened to you. I recently had 3 surf rods stolen from Oologah dam from me. They were leaned up against the truck while we were asleep in the tent right behind the truck. Woke up and was pretty hot under the collar. Im only 17, but i have grown up with amazing parents that taught me the way they were taught. I am proud of my family, especially my parents. I know this world is getting scary. And a lot of the problem is my generation. A lot of times i get made fun of because ive never drank, smoked, or dipped. I dont plan to because its just the way i was raised. But thats just me.
