Ok, unless I am seeing things, last nite when I was fishing, I know I saw a huge (16-18 inch) goldfish swimming around the shallows. My question is how did it get there? I am assuming it was either a pet that got too big and was released, or a cat bait that has grown. But unless someone was using a really big goldfish as bait, it couldnt have survived the winters to grow that big. I know it was't a carp or gold trout, it had a fancy fan tail.
If it was a released pet, PLEASE don't do this!

    They can survive the winter!

Growing up in RI we used to go ice-scating on a small pond not far from the house. When we had goo clear black ice we could sometimes see gold/orange colored fish about a foot long swimming around in the shallows under the ice.
