Well.... go outside and throw some weight and see how well it does.... for-hand, back-hand, and "go for it" and throw it as far as you can and check if your thumb is "working" right....

    have fun.........bayrunner ray:cool2:

I know how you feel. My 6500c3 came in yesterday, and I looked at it for a while. I'll get to test her against some cats next week, and I have a vendetta against some grass carp that broke my line before; I can't wait.

Congrats on that nice reel, hopefully that cheap line won't break knots all the time like mine did. :smile2:

There ya go, the more ya use em the more ya like em. They were hard for me to get used to casting again, but I'm getting it. I like the cranking power, and they don't twist the line like a spinning reel. They hold a lot of line and have star and lever drag models.

If you're wanting to cast with it make sure you don't have the Trolling model!! I think you do.:sad2: The reel box will display "Trolling" in the upper right corner of the front if I remember right.

I have had a 6600C4 sitting on my shelf, brand new, for about 3 weeks. Waiting for payday on Wed to order a 10' TICA TC2 surf rod. Should make a great distance casting rig. Good luck with the new reel!

100% true, 95% of the time! Usually if you buy a "combo" you are getting one or the other. A nice rod/cheap reel, or vice versa (but not always, I have a bass combo that has good both; Shimano Sahara reel and BPS Bionic Blade rod. I like it a lot for bass fishing). I learned that after my first, real, rod/reel purchase. It definitely saves money in the long run to buy sepearate at first, otherwise you will eventually be upgrading/replacing the cheap component (not to even think about the combos that come with line :smile2:)!
