Woohoo:) I went fishing at a creek nearby the house this morning, and somehow hooked a bluegill that could not have been more than 2 inches long-LOL. He managed to dunk a large bobber and when I set the hook, he went airborn and landed at my feet. My wife laughed at me for an hour...smallest fish I have ever seen on a hook

Man your title had me going. I could't wait to open and read. Then I realized the fish wasn't even big enough for flathead bait. That was a let down. :smile2:

I think I know that fish!
Yep, same one I have been catching for the last 45 years. He is one amazing little fish. For one, he never grows, well, except when I tell others how big he is. And oh, does he have the ability to grow then!

I fish my in-law's pond with a fly rod. When fishing a wet fly, I've jerked them clean out of the water and then recast without noticing that they were even on there.:eek:oooh: Tiny little buggers! But boy are they hungry!!:smile2:

I've been looking for a lake or river here in MO to catch some bull gills. When I read the title to this post, I said to myself, Woooooo hoooooo.
Sooooooo, needless to say.......I was thoroughly disappointed.:sad2:

Will continue to look. Anyone know of a good bluegill lake in MidMO?

yeah I think you almost broke the dink record! but I believe I beat you. My smallest bluegill was a little less than 2 inches, and my smallest fish caught on a hook was a 1.5-inch minnow that I snagged in the middle. bet I could never do that again if I tried...

last year on a fishing trip, i was fishing for crappie, and reeled in to check if my minnow was still on my hook. On my hook was a 2 inch largemouth bass with the 1 1/2 inch minnow stuffed down its mouth.

In pond by my house we have caught bluegill on 10" plastic worms, bass crankbaits, rooster tails, and even full size buzzbaits. They are agressive!

biggest cat i ever caught was with my dad and his friend in lake meade, nv. fishing straight down in about 80 ft of water, pole goes down. i set the hook hard, crank like mad, and up comes a big ole kitty cat all of maybe 2 inches long. dad still won't let me forget and that was back in 60's.
