I broke the 100 fish mark this year on Sunday with a catch of 19 on Lake Wylie, SC. Most were channels, but there was one five pound blue cat.

The water was 71 and the air temp was around 82 and there was a lot of boat traffic. Most fish were in water around 18-22 feet, but right at dark I caught seven in thirty minutes on a shallow flat that was about 6-7 feet.

The two previous days were good with around nine fish per trip, but Sunday was really nice.

In Chattanooga our normal high temp this time of the year is 61 but Saturday we set a new record of 83. A front is moving through now and tomorrow is either 48 or 58 for a high depending which channel you watch.

The water is warming and the Crappie are moving in shallower water. It won't be long before the the spawn

The 71 degree water was on a river arm that is fed by a steam station. It is about 10 degrees warmer than the main lake, so you get the warmer waters a few weeks earlier.

Our warm weather will be short lived. The 15 day forecast is calling for more seasonable temps next week with overnight lows in the upper 20's and lower 30's.

I guess I might not want to put that winter fishing suit away just yet.

Great going! Seems like you're spending lots of time on the water (can you see me green with envy). You're getting to know that water pretty well now, so maybe you'll be catchin' the bigger ones soon :)

 I'm glad to hear that they're biting so good in the south fork. I've been working my way up the river spot by spot the past couple of weekends. This weekend I'm going up there to try my luck.

Well if any of you fellas are out on Wylie, I will be in a beige Suntracker pontoon. Usually there are four rods off the back and a trolling motor on the front.
