hydraulic jackplate

    got a new wareagle 2072 150 mercury opt. had a hydraulic jackplate put on it. never used a jackplate before and i need all the info i can get. tell me everthing i need to know. please help. thanks

    Just out of curiosity and not a point of criticism;if you dont know anything about jackplates then why did you have one put on?:confused2:Jackplates serve a variety of purposes depending on your intent.Essentially they lift and lower the engine.You can very easily lift the engine above its water intakes and burn it up.Most of the time they are used to enhance top speed by lifting the engine and reducing the drag on the engine.I would suggest you go to Boating magazine or Bass and Walleye baots websites and research jackplates.Both magazines have done numerous articles on the pros and cons.
