Tea asked me to keep ya all osted so this is what we found out today.
There are so many doctor appointments alot of days I tell ya I don't if I'm coming or going.Anyway he had to remind me of another appointment today so here we go back down to the doctors, exact same office different doctor different speciality. If you recall yesterdays visit was to a nuerosurgeon where it was explained to him that he has a failed neck and back.Today we seen an orthopedic doc to find out about a torn rotator cuff.No absolutely not he does not have a torn rotator cuff regardless of what the MRI stated. If he did he would not be able to move his right arm period. So that was good news.Bad news is like yesterday there is a diagnosis of Severe Chronic Pain of which there is no surgical solution. He must get back to pain management because after 2 years of being on narcotics they must find a way to keep his tolorable without narcotics or he will really be in big trouble. He will become an addict of that there is no doubt. This doctor also stated that his job is going to have to accept the fact that that he is no longer able to perform his duties on the job.Now scratch yer head on that remark!!! we been trying for 2 years to tell the big wigs that he can't work he hurts and doing what he was doing for a living (Diesel Mechanic on very heavy machines)will only intesify his pain.Needless to say my husband was upset, the big wigs will not listen to us period. So we hurried to get to the phone to call our attorney. They told us they are sending money for us to travel to their doctor who will pronounce disability(I Hope So) This is worse than rediculous. So just wanted you all to know the latest. If I can make myself wake up in time I was thinking about going to river before dawn it is so peaceful and relaxing.Ya all take care and God Bless--------Pat:smile2:

    Thanks for the update Pat.

Can they do anything to kill the nerves that are causing pain?? I know that sometimes it can be done.

    Prayers are sent Pat.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles and my family will keep you in our prayers. My uncle had faced the same problems with his back and company it took him nearly two years to get his disability and he had to get his state reps involved with his lawsuit. Good luck I hope you do not have go through much more of this turmoil.

I well understand what you are going through.I surly do.I see how hard it is on my wife every day.It is the worst thing that I have gone through so far in life.Every day I see what my illness is doing to her as she struggles to make it for both of us.I often wonder is it going to kill her before I die.As bad as I hurt.As helpless and hopeless as I feel.I know it is much worse on her. Some of the members of the BOC have been through it.They understand it far better than I do.It truly seems as if the effort to keep me going day by day,is killing her day by day.I don;t see how I could have her strength if I was in her place.I pray, and we make it one day at the time.Only God can give you the strength to make it through. We don;t have that kind of strength. My heart is with you.peewee-williams

I keep going simply because I love my husband very much as I'm sure Pee Wee that you're wife is very much in love with you. I know that I will see the end of this and I may be wrong but we may be getting closer,it is now down to our attorneys send ing us to their doctors whom they say will declare the disability. At this time they are making the appointment and then they will call us,plus send us some gas money so we can go to the doctor.I hope this doctor will see us this week,as our daughters will be in Church Camp in another town so they will be occupied with Bible Study. But it probably won't happen that soon it just would be nice if it could.Love to all-----Pat:smile2:

I get so boiling mad when I hear about people like you, PK and Peewee's family and all the others, that have to hire lawyers to get things done right. When all it takes is some investigation on governments part and it's done.

I'm thinking their hoping you'll all pass away before the case is heard and then they can throw our tax dollars out to the useless welfare recipients for more votes.

If welfare or disability money were given out on merit, you'd be rich and there would be plenty begging for a bite to eat.

Thank you everyone for all the replys. I have to say I appreciate very much all your replys.Yes the Government is so wonderful to all of us.And to the Gentleman who said they are waiting for my husband to kick the bucket so they won't have to pay,you are absolutely correct. I lost my broth-in-law at the age of 47 to Lung Cancer and my sister did not get her first government check until 3 days before he passed,so yes we do have a lovely government.Shoot we don't really know our luck they're probably scanning even all the BOC messages just to make sure we're all up to par if ya know what I mean!pk:angry:

Well here is an update,we went to a doctor that specialilizes in physical medication and rehabilitation. This turned out to be an absolute joke. She does not write disability papers, altho she does agree that He can't go back to the railroad. Now folks this is the catch all,Yes my husband got his strength back and he can walk no problem. He says that it hurts and it must because we go thru the icy hot bengay stuff like it's candy. We can get no doctor to explain why he hurts they don't know!! So back to the catch all with his job the rules are as such.............If you give them 10 years of service you qualify for an occupational disability if it's less you get hurt and can't go back to work you must take a complete and total disability. If you are caught doing another job you lose everything. So yes we are on food stamps yes we have to be on welfare and yes we get an extremely small payment from the state the 4th of every month, but you know what I am not ashamed. My husband is 50 years old and God bless him he worked mighty darn hard for the railroad. Here is just one example he didn't get in until 4:30am one morning and I ask him where he'd been, his answer was right at the last minute of his shift he was notifyed that a locomotive had broke down in Topeka Kansas and he was needed to drive down there(4 hour drive)from where he worked, when he arrived he was told they'd found someone else to get it going again and so he could just go home.I feel he has put in his time and now it's time for him to get what he has worked so hard for. Now I get alot of rude looks wondering why I'm not working. I'm taking care of my home,I'm raising our daughters to be good God Fearing women who will someday leave the nest and know also that their place is in the home. Do I encourage my daughters to get an education I sure do,but I also say that they must remember that their first responsability is to the home and their future husband. I hope and pray that someday we can get this is all turned around,we have an excellent attorney out of St. Louis Missouri that has been practicing law since I was born in 1959(yes I just revealed my age so what) but anyway all he does is railroad injuries and he has a very good track record at winning cases. So I'm believeing that he will help us. As a matter of fact he is so sick and tired of all the doctors we have been forced to see that he is personally getting a doctor lined up for us who will once and for all write my husband's papers so we can get on with our lives. Funny this last doctor kept saying are you not getting a settlement and we told her we will if one of you Docs will write the papers, well thats not my place to do.Well there it is folks thats who I Pat Powell am! I am a not ashamed at all. If people don't care for me or point fingers let em point. It's not our fault that he got hurt.We are honest loving careing people who will help anyone else if we can in their time of need.Thats all I can say for this post,I know it's along one and I apologize for that but I wanted my fishing family to know what was going on! I welcome any and all replys, and I'm very thankful to be on this site and being able to talk to my fishin family. You guys are great!!-----------Pat:big_smile:

Pat, I am so sorry to hear about all that's going on! It took 3 years for my diasability to go thru. & I had to get a lawyer as well. They saw 33 years old & probably had a seizure at my age & didn'y look any further. Stamped it rejected on age alone is my guess.

Did any of the docs say "RSD or Thoracic Outlec Syndrome"?
As far as the narcotics, is the doc that prescribed them "responsible"? How well do you guys know the doc? Is he a Pain Management Specialist? If not, see if you can find one when his insurance will cover it. He'll get him off the narcotics & get him on the right track. Cleve & I have both been thru it.
If you PM me with your email address I will send you some web sites & some other info. Also please let me know if any docs said RSD or TOS.
My prayers are with you & your hubby. Hy heart goes out to him.
